Two original .500 Jeffery Magnum Mauser Rifles
Original literature from W. J. Jeffery Catalogue circa 1928
Well here is my first posting to the blog and I thought that it might as well be on the big side! Here we have three great bolt action rifles in .500 calibre, an original Schuler and two (yes two!) of the original 24 Jeffery Magnum Mauser rifles. The British taste for sleekness and aesthetic balance can clearly be seen in the two Jeffery rifles which Jeffery chose to build on the single square bridge magnum action as opposed to Schuler's building on the standard length action. Jeffery clearly thought the .500 a great idea and if you built the most powerful in nitro double rifles - aka the .600, then you may as well go all out with the bolt action as well. Original rifles these days are a pretty rare find which probably explains the resurgence in new orders for makers worldwide. It really is a fantastic cartridge for African dangerous game.

Tremendous effort, informative and nostalgic. Does a fine job of capitalizing on the historical inroads carved out initially by your firm and competently maintained by present-day Westley Richards.
Your high standards of workmanship on the firearms themselves are sincerely appreciated.

Dear Simon,
Thank you for sharing those rare, beautiful rifles with us. Two years ago had a chance to examine an original 500 J by Jeffery, but not in that condition!
