A Matched Set of 3 Westley Richards Droplocks in 20g, 28g and .410.

I don't recall that we have made a set like this is recent years. Indeed we have made the full set of 7 guns, from .410 to 8g for our Bicentennial, but they were cased in a huge display case and these are cased in a triple motor type case for travel and use. Flexibility in a leather case, if you are not managing with the .410 you can step up a grade and go for the 28g, still no luck and onto the 20g and vice versa of course! A gun for every quarry.

The engraving on these guns was executed by Frederique Lepinois who's work you have hopefully seen on The Explora before. Frederique is the sister of our stocker Romain but I am not sure if we made this a completely family affair with him doing the stocking also.

These guns are destined now for Dallas and an eager ranch owner, to whom I wish many years of pleasure hunting the native quail for himself, his children and grandchildren

This is a serious question for me that with a shotgun of one of the mass producing companies like Winchester or Remington how many safe shots can be done? and on the other side how many shots with Westley Richards' shotguns?

Safe shots are ones that are pointed at the sky or into the ground perhaps, depending on what your quarry is. So from that point of view the gun is only as safe as its handler.
You no doubt refer to 'when will the gun blow up' question. I think both will last a long time if maintained properly. A gun becomes dangerous when it is neglected, the barrel dented, the barrels loose on the action, wrong size ammunition etc.
One of the first guns we made, No 4 is a flintlock shotgun which is used safely to this day after many many shots and is used by a member of the USA black powder competitive team.
I have never bothered counting the actual shots but I know I have shot many thousands through my pair of guns and I am sure someone before me shot many more. Likewise I am sure many a Model 21 has put 10,000's shots in its lifetime.

isn't the durability of your guns _shotguns/rifles_ more than mass producing gun makers?!!! I heard for example the durability of a fine British gun is so high that lives more than the owner's life and can be in high quality for generations...

In our opinion yes but all guns last a long time if not used. I know ours can be used for many years. It is a rather difficult discussion you pose as so many variables and I am not going to degrade their guns unnecessarily.

Beautiful trio. I really enjoy the Texas star on the trigger-guard! What's the case look like?

Guns of the very highest quality as always, but personally, I'd have a worry. They look so alike, popping a 28g cartridge into the 20g?

Hopefully the owner is careful, and they are certainly beautiful pieces.

    Morning Simon,

I wanted to drop you and Ms. Frederique Lepinois a note telling you of how beautiful these guns are. Ms. Lepinois I have followed your work for some time now and think your engraving is Spectacular. I can only hope that you are the engraver that does my 28g. Great job by the entire WR team, these guns are stunning. I look forward to seeing much more of the work your artist put out in the years to come. My humble hat off to each and everyone of you Guys...and Gals!!!

    In Christ
    Vance,
