'Along the Hunter's Path' - Kai-Uwe Denker

The thoughts and memoirs of an African professional hunter, especially one blessed with the ability to write with fluidity and authority are always worth reading. Kai-Uwe Denker's classic is therefore a noteworthy and necessary addition to any African hunting library.

Along the Hunter's Path chronicles his experiences of hunting the big five and other trophy species in Namibia, Mozambique, Cameroon and Tanzania over a period exceeding four decades.

Much of the book covers elephant hunting in some of the remotest parts of Namibia, where his clients claimed some enormous and distinctive ivory while he ran his legendary concession in East-Kavango.

Kai-Uwe offers his observations and thoughts about hunting historically and in the modern era, especially concerning Africa.

Always forthright, interesting and showing the strength of his personality, he moves effortlessly from recounting hunting adventures blow-by-blow to waxing philosophical on the nature of hunters and their primal drives. After all Africa is about more than just the hunt.

Having pursued game with firearms since gifted an air rifle aged four, Kai-Uwe has lived and hunted in Africa all his life, with great affinity for his native Namibia. He has lived and experienced more hunting than most, having the intellect and cultural intelligence to reflect upon, as well as recount, his experiences with a rare degree of lucidity and depth. With 504 pages the book is an exceptional read, one worthy of taking on your next safari.

Along the Hunter's Path is available from Westley Richards, while our limited stocks last.
