I must say, it came as a little bit of a surprise, this will now be the 4th owner of Boss & Co. during my time here. I wish the company every success and hope that they continue to build their very fine guns without compromise. The pair of 28g Over and Under Guns we have here at the factory which were built by a combination of the last 3 owners of the company are quite superb and I know they have prompted customers to order similar, as has the .500 NE over under we have.

This is really interesting. To what do you attribute the constant turn over?
Simon Clode on November 11, 2015 at 10:27 am
The first had owned the company forever, second owner was only there for a year or so, The Halsey Bros have owned it since about 2000 so a good run, and now the new owner. I don't think I attribute it to anything other than the 'tried that, done that' sort of feeling!

I was at Boss and Company in 1999 and has the worst experience that I have ever had at a gun company/ store. They have been off my list since. Had a great time at the rest of the gun companies in London. Same experience at the Safari show with Boss.

This is a troubling development. The turnover seems fairly straightforward. A company with £1.5-4 million in sales and high cost of goods sold (COGS) in the form of a highly skilled workforce (barrel makers, actioners, stockers, engravers, finishers etc.) is never going to generate a competitive return by the standards of today without cutting cost and eroding product quality. An owner of Boss & Co. would have to assume the role of steward. It is about heritage and excellence, not returns.

I think the new owner is taking that role so hopefully you will not see what you suggest but perhaps the opposite.

So is Graham Halsey staying on as Managing Director for Arthur Demoulas despite the Halseys selling the company?
Simon Clode on April 23, 2016 at 10:08 pm
No, I believe like with most sales of this sort he stayed for a period of hand over and will then depart. I actually thought after Las Vegas he was going to leave.

I have got to know Arthur Demoulas
as a passionate gun enthusiast with only one thing in mind. Build the best
looking best handling and best shooting guns most of us can only dream about putting them to their adequate use in the field.
I havent seen the new spirit and ideas resulting in even better craftsmenship
or resulting in new patents but looking into the eyes of the owner I could see he is very passionate about best guns and about what Boss&Co is doing in the future.
Its the best for the industry if we have people who care for the love and perfection of the product and the lifestyle that is involved - not because they intent to make money. All the best for that Journey!
