This convention has certainly lived up to its growing reputation of becoming the largest and most well attended show of its type in the world, and must be very close on the heels of the main Safari Club International show which will be in Las Vegas in February.
From an exhibitors point of view this is certainly a much easier and friendlier venue from which to do business, with everyone involved organising the show going out of their way to make it a success for the exhibitors. The last hurdle for the organisers is to pull in the international visitor and I think it is only a matter of a few years for that to be achieved.
The show has grown now to 1400 exhibitors, a mix of guns, outfitters, artists and everything else associated with the world of hunting. Dallas was attended by most of the English gunmakers as well as premier gun dealers and makers from America and Europe.
It seemed a good opportunity to ask photographer Terry Allen to take a camera and introduce these people and put faces to names you may be familiar with.
William Asprey and Paul West from William & Son
Stuart Anderson from Anderson Wheeler.
Stacy & Guy Davies and David Cruz of Holland & Holland
Roy Liu of Boss & Co.
Ian Andrews of James Purdey.
Mark Newton of John Rigby had a very successful launch of the new Rigby 416 rifle which is based on the original pre war rifle built by the company. Based on a Mauser Magnum action the company has strived to retain the classic style of the 416 Rigby and all for a very reasonable price, I think £7000 was mentioned but may need to correct this. By all accounts these were going like hot cakes, so hurry up and join the queue!
A rare opportunity when the new 416 Rigby Special were not out of the rack during the show!
Julie Hatch and Alastair Phillps of William Evans.
Steve Barnett of Steve Barnett Fine Guns.
George Caswell of Champlin Firearms
John Puglisi and Troy Thompson of Puglisi Gun Emporium.
Tony Galazan of Connecticut Shotgun
Louis Frutuoso of Connecticut Shotgun
Guy Bignall of Griffin & Howe
Guy Bignall and Paul Chapman of Griffin & Howe who hosted on their booth Boss & Co, J Purdey amongst others.
And of course our very own Trigger who spent most of his time with the Yamaha promotion girls from the opposite booth!
The 2015 Dallas show will be starting on January 15th next year and we look forward to welcoming visitors to our booth then.
