Westley Richards Magazine Rifle

No gun and rifle battery is complete without at least one bolt action magazine rifle. Westley Richards & Co. has made them since the very earliest days of the repeating rifle’s inception; a classic type that has remained largely unchanged for more than a century. At Westley Richards we believe that a bolt action rifle bearing our name must be as elegant as it is strong, reliable, and accurate. Something that is only achievable by a blending of the old and new world techniques we employ.

Building a rifle using the correct action size for that cartridge ensures reliability and undeniably improves the handling characteristics of the firearm. Our bolt action rifles – whether for stalking deer, plains game, or the most dangerous game species – are built on appropriately sized Mauser ’98 actions and are available in short (kurtz), intermediate, standard, and magnum actions housing cartridges from .243, 7x57, our own .318 and .425, to the storied .500 Jeffery and .505 Gibbs.

Each of our magazine rifles include a host of standard features including the time-proven double square bridge Mauser action with a Model 70 style side safety, adjustable trigger, and classic name and border engraving. Barrel lengths are made to the length desired. The super deluxe grade walnut stock is made to individual measurements as well and have a full pistol grip and trap grip cap, cheek piece, traditional recoil pad, sling swivels, recoil bar, ebony forend tip and gold oval with initials.

Just as the large format double rifle is a specialty of ours, we regularly produce big bore bolt action rifles as well, and we have certainly seen an increase in interest in some of the popular American cartridges like .243 Win., .30-06 Sprg. and .300 Win. Mag. However, much of Westley Richards & Co.’s fame, dating back to Westley Richards the Younger’s pivotal role in the development of the metallic cartridge, is due to our contribution in the development of the modern sporting cartridge. Not only did our Managing Director, L.B. Taylor’s, “L.T.” bullet pave the way to the modern “high-performance”, premium bullets we have today, but his .318 Accelerated Express and .425 Magnum Express are legendary among shooters, hunters, and collectors alike. The fact that these cartridges represent a large part of new orders, is testament to their timelessness.

At Westley Richards., we obviously have a strong connection to our past with a mindful eye to the future. In that vein, our bolt action magazine rifles are a modern interpretation of our classic vintage rifles with many contemporary upgrades available. Options include our  combination bead and night sight with registered hinged protector, a feature on our rifles since the early 1900’s, to our sleek, utterly reliable QD scope mounts.

With the arduous, international travel that often goes with the pursuit of the World’s most sought after game, the necessity for a rifle that is compact and easy to transport has made our bolt action take-down, a magazine rifle with a detachable barrel, one of our most popular models.

Available in all the same chamberings as our bolt action with a fixed barrel, our take-down rifles offer not only an elegant option to make your travel with a firearm easier, but our carefully designed system also ensures solid lock up, time after time, no matter what caliber you have chosen.

At Westley Richards, we apply the same rigorous standards to our bolt action magazine rifle that we do to our double rifles: accuracy, elegance, reliability, and longevity are four cornerstones of our success with this model. The high standards we demand of ourselves coupled with the all-around capabilities of a bolt action magazine rifle, make a Westley Richards Bolt Action an invaluable addition to any hunter’s repertoire. With our attention to every detail when building your rifle, you can expect to gather years of sporting memories, wherever in the World the hunt takes you.

We would be delighted to discuss the finer points of our bolt action magazine rifles with you and explore the commissioning of a new rifle. Please feel free to contact us:
