J. Rigby & Co. .416 Bore Big Game Mauser Magazine Rifle. Built in the mid 1990's (1994 London proofs) on an original pre-war Mauser Sporting Magnum Action with a Single Square Bridge. The rifle was re-barreled with a pre-war style Rigby quarter rib, standing express sight and folding leaf and a wonderful taper to the barrel true to the original run of rifles. The front sight is a ramp style with a removable sight hood and flip up moon sight. The front ring of the action is traditionally marked "Rigby’s Special .416 Bore for Big Game” and the gun is equipped with a flag safety and a modern Timney trigger. Stock has a right hand cheekpiece with a shadowline, and a single case colored recoil bar. The drop belly straddle floor plate with inside the bow release is inlaid in gold ".416 Cal. Rigby" inside a gold circle. The rifle has a special ordered rubber pad and the original owner's initials "HF" are on the engraved gold oval. The trap grip cap is case hardened and has the opposing “R” logo in gold, serial number on trigger bow also in gold. Rifle is in excellent overall condition.
